CFW WOW (Women of Wheeling) run 4/26/15

The CFW women took to the wheel for our first WOW run on 4/26. We were joined by several guys who good-naturedly paid the $5 donation or wore barrettes or headbands in order to drive. Some of the guys did both, and others donned pink shirts to show their support. We had 15 vehicles on this run, which was awesome considering we had a snow storm move in that day, so we anticipated getting rained and snowed on!

We met up at the IHOP at Southgate for breakfast, then followed Chrystie Marden up Old Stage Road. Initially, the weather changed just about every five minutes, from rain to sleet and then snow, and then back again in a haphazard manner. Of course, there was a ton of fog too, so we just had to imagine the views. The roads were wet, but not terribly slick, which was nice.

Once we hit Victor, we turned south and hopped on Phantom Canyon Road. Many of us had never been on that trail, and we were mesmerized. The foliage was lush and despite the lack of vistas to see, it was still a beautiful road to explore. We noticed several camp sites, which got many of us wishing for warmer weather. We all decided that taking Phantom Canyon in the fall would be amazing too. Fortunately, it was warmer in the canyon, so the snow abated and we only had rain to deal with. We made it down to highway 50, and split up from there, after airing up.

It was a great run to get novice drivers more comfortable, and to get our passengers more comfortable too. We will definitely be doing more WOW runs in the future!! Thanks to everyone who came out with us!!

Sorry for the dismal pics, but they show what we dealt with pretty well! ;-)
